I have been suffering with hypoglycemia for a long time now, and have not really dealt with it the way I know that i should be.  I only deal with it when I don't feel well.  I have in the last year had a stroke at the age of 36 and have been depressed, stressed, anxious, just plain feeling rotton.  Recently I went to see a Psychiatrist and he told me that I should be on the hypoglycimia diet.  Personally I don't like the word diet.  I never have eaten right because i just don't know how.  I hate to admit it......But i just don't know where to start.  I have looked through this book and that book....and honestly.....every book that i look through have different things to say.  I hear things that you can eat certain things when your hypoglycemic and then i see in other books that yeah  you can go ahead and eat those things just eat them in moderation.  What's the deal......Where do i start.....what do i do first?  I am very confused and frusterated.....and feeling pretty gross.....can anyone help? Idea

Simple rule of thumb...
Experinent with different foods. Everyone that I have come across with hypoglycemia has a different diet because, each of us has different foods allergies and foods that our particular body needs. Just like another disease or disorder, it affects us all differently. That is why we have so many different opinion on what to eat. I just wish these people making these diet list would not do that. They are just confusing the public.
The rule of thumb is just this, make sure you eat 4 -6 times daily. Make sure your meals have protein, fruits, and vegetables. Lay off the refined sugar foods. Stop using alcohol, don't smoke anything, watch out for medications for they can throw off your eating scheldule. Take vitamin supplements that you can tolerate and if you cannot tolerate them, then do not take them. Get yourself a test meter and glucose test strips to measure your blood gluce levels throughout the day. These tests will help guide you in the decision when to eat and how musch to eat.
Know the vitamins, natural sugar level in eat food you eat. Study chemical make up of all foods you eat. Stay away from food additives and chemicals. Cook your food fresh from organic foods.
Yes, it is allot to think about but, it is a place to start.

If you have allergies, then yes, but if you read my diet you'd see I mention that in there. My diet is not tailored to myself, it's made for ANYONE who has this condition. After research, testing it on myself and on others, I can assure you it's the BEST place to start. There is nothing about it dangerous or anything. Of course you should watch for allergies, but suggesting we have them is generally false, I think you mean sensitivities, which is a different matter and very difficult to accurately test for. I take offense to you saying I'm 'confusing' people, my diet has helped hundreds of people on here and I get tons of PMs through the year from people who have used it. Read it before you make a judgement about it, it's the only diet any of us should be eating.
