Q: Hypoglycemia
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 12th, 2008
How am I supposed to handle an attack? What do I eat? I don't want to eat candy or sugar anymore but when my blood sugar drops too low I need to get it up without repeating the cycle of my body overproducing insulin due to my eating sugar.

Hypoglycemia Answer A4152
A few diagnostic procedures are needed to check if you really have hypoglycemia or those “attacks” are something else. According to your story, you had only one attack (on May 9, 2008) that was documented with a low blood glucose level. There are no data about the glucose levels during the further “attacks”. Without documented evidence for a low blood glucose level we can’t say whether or not you had a hypoglycemic attack. Those “attacks” could mean anything including real panic attacks. You may want to consult an endocrinologist about the possibility of having hypoglycemia.

Help?
I just have a few questions. I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia in January of this year, only a couple months ago, and I really don't know all that I want to about it.. Is it permanent? Like, am I always going to have to carry something around with me to snack on every 3 hours or so? And also, I seem to always be anxious and nervous, and after most meals I get really "zoney". I can't concentrate for the life of me, and sometimes it kinda freaks me out. Is there anything I can do to stop the zoning and anxiety?

Help ...
caseyfisher16 I have had Hypoglycemia all my life . you need to take a blood test u should keep it to 90 to 120 no higher. I have found out that if I keep glucose tablets on me that helps. it has low cals to so if u eat 5 small meals a day it's better. I have had many more attacks in the last 4 mos because I am under a lot of stress My Dad is Dieing so I think that's why .. I know if I keep my exercise up that always makes me feel better . but just watch the signs keep a book and when you feel low wright it down . keep a record you and only you can find what helps you have to know what helps and what does not help we are all different Good Luck ...

I took a test when I went to the clinic and was diagnosed with it, but I haven't taken one since... What's the importance of keeping track of each time you feel like you have low blood sugar? Since I've had it for so little time, and I have reactive hypoglycemia (i get zoney during or after I eat meals), I'm not really sure what the actual symptoms are becuase I know alot of them are in my head because I feel fine until I think about it and start to get anxious. And also, is it something that I'll have to deal with my entire life?

For me I do better if I stay away from to much sugar and only have the sugar from fruits and whole grains and Bananas at night before I go to bed that will stable my blood sugar all night .

I am not sure about the way you say
(i get zoney during or after I eat meals), I am not foamier with that . you can try to look up your Hypoglycemia on youtube they well have every type .. from others that have your kind . and I think you will have this all your life Sorry but it's better then other things you could have right ?

good luck ...
