Well, this is definitely a difficult thing. I was upset at first because of what you say, I didn't want to seem like I was looking for attention, I just wanted people to understand why I had to do what I was doing and not think I was some sort of special person who can do whatever they want. Best thing is to let your boss know first, and then if you can just send a mass email out to all the people you have contact with regularly at work and let them know your situation, that way they won't ask. If you can hold off on a meal during a meeting, just bring some nuts or something less obvious so it won't cause too much of a problem. Otherwise, you have to just say SCREW THEM. Do what you need to as you start the healing process. At restaurants, however, don't even bother explaining what's going on to the manager or waiter, just say 'I have allergies' and leave it at that, especially if you order a salad, steak, or whatever. If you say hypoglycemia they likely won't know what you mean and then ask a bunch of questions, but if you say allergies, you better believe they'll make sure you feel okay!
