I have am 36 and have had hypoglycemia my whole life. It runs in the family on my Fathers side. However, type 2 diabetes runs in my Mothers family. As a child I was told by my family doctor that I would never get diabetes, but this is the same man who told me to eat glucose all of the time to control my blood sugar. I am now concerned that I may get diabetes and am wondering whether there are any similar cases to mine and whether I am at risk. I can find no evidence about this really, I know that hypoglycemia can lead to type 2 diabetes and that has happened on my Mothers side, but they tended to only have hypoglycemia for a few years before getting diabetes.
