Hi,
I am sorry that no one replied to your post. The sleepiness can be handled easily by changing your diet. You will have to reduce carbohydrate intake and avoid highly processed food while makign sure that you eatb quality protein. For example, Never eat white bread or white rice. If you can handle it once in a very while and say you're in a Chinese restaurant and eat white rice, it won't be so bad though I persoanlly have reached to the stage where I don't feel good if I do. I eat brown rice these days (usually basmati brown rice becaiuse ti taset better) - I had to stop eating white rice (I was using basmatic white rice) completely about two years ago - and wheat- based bread. I have been eating wheat bread for years just because I heard in the news that it stablilizes glucose in your blood stream better. I alos have a habit of not eatign canned food which helped me better. I ate frozen veregetables when I was in college and also the town a colege town with low supply of fresh vegetables that I like. (I came from an Asian country.)
All my life, I have always had to sleep 8-9 hours - of coures, I didn't always get that duirng the week but I had to cath it on the weekend. So, I accepted that fact without even realizing that it was hypoglycemia doing that.
Hypoglycemia can be controlled with diet. You'd have to eat frequently too like every 3-4 hours definitely during day time. So, just control your overall calorie by eating wise. Know that fruit comntains a lot of sugar which is very clse to simple sugar. So, limit fruit that have a lot of sugar. Apples are fine. Try to eat fresh veges but mainly NEVER forget to make sure that you get enough protein on daily basis and do not rely on vegeatarian source for protein though lima beans has good protein. I read that by soaking beans, phytic acid would be released I raed that phytic acis is bad for those wiht hypoglycemia. I have yet to sepnd more time on reading that but from experienc, I don't feel well without meat and so you get my drift.
