Hi everyone. I have posted a few things recently. I was diagnosed about 4 months ago. Been doing the low carb, protien, no sugar diet and just recently started adding some of Stan's suggestions. Some of my symptoms included light headedness, vertigo- like the floor is moving when I walk, extreme fatigue, foggy brain, can't concentrate, muscle aches especially in the legs, and I feel like my legs don't want to keep me up sometimes. Four months on this diet and my symptoms come and go throughout the day. My biggest complaint at the moment is the light headedness and vertigo. I was wondering if anyone has had this feeling and how long it lasted. If so do you have any suggestions? I know everyone says it will take awhile to feel better I just wondered if anyone wanted to tell me how long it actually took them.

Here's a sample of my eating habits:
Breakfast: 6:30 Two eggs scrambled, ezecial toast with butter
snack: 9:30 celery sticks with almond butter
lunch: 12:30 salad with grilled chicken, chedar cheese, tomato, oil/vinager dressing
snack: 3:00 string cheese with raw almonds
dinner: 5:30 some kind of meat with brocoli
snack: 8:00 cheese, hard boiled egg, or almonds

I would appreciate any suggestions. I have two kids, a husband, and I run a daycare full time by myself at my house. Some days are very hard. One more question for the ladies out there. Do your symptoms seem worse when you are on your period? I am starting to see a partern with that also. Feel worse today because it is the first day of my period. Thanks for listening and any suggestios will help.

Are you eating any fruit? I eat about one apple, one peach and some applesauce each day and that seems to help. I keep my carbs around 100g per day, you may be too low on your carbs.

I too experience worse symptoms while I am PMSing and while on my period. I've read that your blood sugar lowers during that time, so I try to eat a little more then. I also try to rest more.

Thank you for your reply. I have been scared to try fruit. I thought it might make the symptoms worse. But at this point I will try anything to see if it helps. Thanks. Glad to know that i am not imagining the pms thing. Thanks for the advise. How long have you been dealing with this and how long did it take to start feeling better?

I'm okay eating the fruit, I haven't had any additional symptoms from it. I eat protein with the fruit. I've been doing this diet for 5 weeks now. I'm still not 100% but I'm a lot better than where I began. I have other health problems too: adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid, so it's hard to pinpoint which symptoms are developing from what. I still have really bad days, but, I am improving. I really think adding more carbs (btwn 60-100 total) will help your vertigo and light headedness. Are you taking any supplements? I take a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement, a multi, Vit D and Chromium. I also take liquid fish oil, that has helped a ton (the pills aren't as potent). As soon as I started the fish oil I felt better.

I do take supplements. I just started the fish oil yesturday. Yesturday was a bad day so I can't tell if it has helped or not. I also take multi, vit b12, calcium/mag/vit d. How do you know how many grams of carbs are in lettuce, cucumbers etc. I havn't seen a label on some of those things. I tried an apple. Didn't make me feel worse or better. I feel like I am stuck where I am. Not getting better not getting worse. I m much better compared to 4 months ago when I couldn't get out of bed. I am able to work full time, walk two miles every other day, and I take a pilates class twice a week. I am able to function but I want to be normal again, not just function.

I go to nutritiondata.com. You can input the food and it will show you the nutritional facts for most foods. It's really helpful for fruits and veggies. I know how you feel, some days I get so frustrated because I'm not where I need to be. I keep re-reading the posts in here and it's encouraging that other people have overcome it, it just seems to take A LOT of time.
