Q: Hypochondria symptoms
asked by: DoctorQuestion on September 22nd, 2008
Hi,
For about a month ive been having chest pains nearly everyday.

The pain is a dull ache in the center, sometimes its mild sometimes quite painful. It comes and goes and doesnt seem to have any triggers, I get it when im resting and it always lasts at least half an hour and sometimes over an hour.

Recently its been spreading to my right leg and sometimes i think i can feel it down my abdomen but mainly in my right leg, the cramping pain is sometimes worse there.

The best way to describe I can describe it is that its like a bad cramp.

I dont know if this is any significance but im able to see my heart bulging on the left side of my chest constantly and im not sure whats causing it.

I havnt been doing any exercise or activity that may have brought this on in fact ive been too scared to exercise incase its heart related.

Thanks for your time.

Heart Disease and Heart Attack Answer A4728
Current medical status: Had an ECG, chest x-ray and bloodtests 3 months ago. All were normal.
Current medical treatment: Pulmicort and Brycanyl Turbohalers for asthma.

Given your symptoms (chest pain that moves toward the abdomen and left leg and capability to see your “heart bulging”) and normal medical tests you are probably experiencing a somatoform disorder – hypochondria.
