Hello!

I've been to this site on and off for a little while now but I don't think I've posted before. I'm just looking for some help today because I'm feeling a bit unsure about something.

I've been on a strict diet for hypo and colitis for about 12 years now. Normally, I eat veg, poultry, eggs and a very small amount of rye crackers.

Last weekend, I think I got some food poisoning because I started having really bad cramping which I haven't had in years. I had some diarrhea but it went away. I felt a little better the next 2 days though I was weak and the cramping would come on every now and then only not as serious.

On Monday I was feeling much better but not completely healed and then I got my period. Since I also have endometriosis, I think the inflammation from my period on top of the colitis (or food poisoning?) put me over the edge. I couldn't eat without feeling like I was going to throw up. I felt this way only once before when I had a colitis flare up 4 years ago and had to go to the hospital.

I had to go off my regular diet this week because when I was eating my regular veg and turkey, I felt so sick I nearly fainted twice and almost threw up more times than I can count. For the past 2 days I've been eating chicken broth (homemade), rice, eggs, and grape juice (diluted). My guts are feeling better but I'm wondering what else I can eat. I'm really at a loss. I still don't feel like my regular diet but I really don't know what else to eat. Any suggestions are welcome!

If your tummy is still feeling a bit yucky (which it sounds like it is!), try the brat diet- bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. Those are bland foods that will supposedly help with your upset tummy... I've heard it works. Give it a try and feel better soon!
