Q: Hyperthyroidism and pregnancy

Scince i have had hyperthyroidism i have not had my menstral cycle i was just wondering if i could still fall pregnant just that the last few weks i have put on a little weight and have been feeling sick.

Womens Conditions Answer A4385
Hyperthyroidism prevents ovulation so pregnancy is very hard to achieve. You can get pregnant if the function of the thyroid gland becomes normal and ovulations are established again. But you should be aware that certain types of therapies for hyperthyroidism, like radioiodine, are contraindicated with pregnancy.
