I take Vasotec 20 mg a day,AM, for about 2 years now, I am 56 Yrs old,WM, 150 lbs. Prior to this Vasotec, my BP was 135/85.
Recently I noticed that my BP is around 125/80 during the day, and even 115/80 in the evenings. But in the morning just before I take Vasotec, my BP is 140/83 on the average. Why is such an increase in Systole after 8 hrs of sleep? I can't explain this. It is not related to food or drinks I take in the evenings, because I watch it closely, no salt, no caffeine, etc. Thanks!

Since you are treated once daily with Vasotec, the antihypertensive effect may diminish toward the end of the dosing interval and that is early in the morning.
In such cases, an increase in dosage or twice daily administration should be considered.
This blood pressure rise, usually happens after the patient have awaken, and not before waking.
So, the early morning dose you take corrects that.

Talk with your physician!
Best wishes!
