Q: Hypertension and Dizzy Spells

Hello All!! My name is Anne...I am new to the board and I have a question. I am 26, diagnosed with hypertension when I was 22 - it runs rampid on BOTH side of the family. I was prescribed Atenol but got off the meds about a year ago and I've been doing fine ever since. Recently I have had dizzy spells. And it can happen while I am sitting, standing, lying down...And proceeding each dizzy spell is a horrible hot flash...the kind that makes your upper lip start to sweat. Sometimes my lips tingle a little. Can anyone offer any advice? Does this sound like something that could be related to my hypertension?

Yes, I would say that the heat and dizziness and sweating could be caused by hypertension. ARe you doing anything to help ease the symptoms of hypertension? What lifestyle changes were recommended by your doctor?
