Current medical status: i had a blood test and was told i had a high level of amonia
Normal blood ammonia levels range from 10-40 µmol/L (or 6-20 mg/dL). A high level of ammonia (hyperammonia) in the blood indicates a heavy liver disorder like severe hepatitis, cirrhosis, Reye's syndrome (in children), liver necrosis due to poisoning etc,. In babies hyperammonia can be due to a genetic defect that affects the liver function.
