I am new to this so hope I don't waffle! I have always, even from the get go, had irregular and heavy periods.

I was referred to a specialist following rather dire Day 21 blood test results which indicated I had an ovulation problem. I had Day 3 bloods done in September which were again dire. I was advised to sort out my lifestyle - I haven't had one cigarette since that hospital appointment and am eating well and drinking virtually no alcohol at all. I had Day 3 bloods repeated a week ago which showed a vast improvement; In fact my hormone levels are within normal parameters whereas before they were way off mark.

At my last appointment the specialist advised that she wanted to perform a Hycosy investigation on me. I linked this with the very bad previous blood results. I saw my local GP recently about something unrelated and he advised that as Hycosy is invasive he would not advise me going through with it unless absolutely necessary (i.e. if my bloods were still well off mark) as it can cause more harm than good.

I'm really confused. I don't know what to do for the best. I am emotional enough as it is and frightened that my life is about to be ripped to shreds.

Can anyone help?
