Q: Hurts to sing

I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem or might know what it could be, but I pretty much can't sing at ALL anymore. It's not that I can't sing, but it just hurts REALLY bad to sing. It doesn't hurt in the back or the sides of the back. It's not red back there, and I went to an ear nose and throat doctor a little while back, and she scoped me and didn't see any polyps or anything. I have also been to a speech pathologist and she didn't say that anything was wrong with my voice, so, I don't know what it could be. Maybe my thyroids? Please help!

I too get it where it hurts to sing. I'm really sorry that I don't have too much knowledge as to why. Although I am prone to upper respiratory type infections.
But my old singing teacher once suggested a period of total rest for a month or so (as in don't use your voice at all). So that might be worth a try. Give your voice some time of to recover type thing. And apparently whispering is really bad for your voice so try not to do that during the rest period!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I just wanted to reassure you that you're not the only one that gets this problem Smile
