The Vatican has urged all Catholics to stop donating money to Amnesty International, accusing the human rights group of promoting abortion.

This is what Amnesty said...
Amnesty said it was not promoting abortion as a universal right.

But the group said that women had a right to choose, particularly in cases of rape or incest.
*************************

I am really dissapointed, Amnesty is actually an organization that fights for thr rights of children, men and woman all around the world, they exhibit high levels of tolerance to other cultures, creed, age etc etc.

Honestly the RC church does not support tolerance, it supports ignorance, I know we say that there is some good christians out there but the higher ups in the religion don't feel that way.

The fact that the religion never once said the act of rape was wrong but said abortion was wrong repulses me, I seriously think more of myself then something to be used, unfortunatly I won't be donating ever again to any christian organizations. Some of the organizations I used to volunteer for were partially christian based, muscular dystrophy, breast cancer, counselling/help line but when these organization exhibit tolerance the church will cut them off.

Absolutly disgusted -Vent done-

The Catholic Church sickens me. Notice when all of those Priests raped those children, the church didn't say, "Stop sending us donations, even though we covered up child rapes!"

how can the catholic church support them, they are giving the church no option. If amnesty international was pro life, and your dontations was going to help change the law to ban abortions across the world would you donate?

It just goes to show the obsession that the Catholic Church has with forcing women to stay barefoot and pregnant. It overwhelms any other considerations -- no human rights are important, if someone is trying not to breed!!!

I think it's kind of ironic that our tax dollars help support the Church whether we like it or not, while the arrogant organization itself not only works to usurp female rights but attempts to bully its own followers into voting and donating only how it sees fit.

Tyranny. Next they'll start up a movement to burn "heretics" again.

Well
It balances out because tax dollars of the welathy conservatives also go to planned parenthood as yours go to pro-life entities. Many organizations, most you wont agree with get tax dollars from everyone. SO unless you want to start cherry picking where the money for pro choice organizations will come from (ie none of the tax dolalrs of the wealthy people or people whoa re pro-life) then it has to be taken as a packaged deal.

You can donate as much of yur money as you want to Amnesty International the Catholic Church doesn't agree with where some of its money will go so they stopped donating. That makes perfectly good sense to me even though I have not stopped giving to AI.
