ok well i don't want to gross anyone out with the nasty details but i really would like some answers or advice so here it goes-

so this is my second period since I had my IUD inserted- and i know it was going to lead to heavier and longer periods but this has me a little concerned, this period is insanely HEAVY, i'm using the Super Plus tampons with a pad on too and both become completely soaked within twenty minutes

and with the last period(first after the IUD was inserted) i had some clotting but they were about the size of a quarter- it was nothing alarming- but now with this period, i have had about 7 blood clots that have been over the size of a tennis ball, one of which was closer to the size of a large grapefruit.

and ive always had pretty terrible cramps so i cant really say they are too much different- and well with clots this big i expect painful cramping because of my cervix dilating trying to pass them.

also, i had my IUD checked about 2 weeks ago and it hasnt slipped at all

Don't know about the IUD, but I used to get them that size all the time, and there was nothing wrong with me. Thank God for those hospital pads! I'd just give the doctor a call and ask, since you have had the IUD inserted, but it's probably ok.

i used to have really really light periods- and no clotting at all.
i was thinking its probably normal too- but when you see that amount of blood and blood clots that size coming from you, you just get a little nervous lol
and raven53, did you bleed that heavily too?

Check with your doc if it starts to get to you...maybe he can give you something to lighten or stop it. You can get weak if you bleed too much.

i dont know the effects of the IUD.
but i had large clots and heavy periods. my doctor said large clots goes with the heavy period. the lining of my uterus had thickened and i had to get a D&C (Scrape the lining of the uterus).
i would get the IUD removed and try something else. did you have this problem before you had the IUD?
Are you able to take birth control pills, or the patch, or something else.
what every the doctor suggest to you, research the side effects of it first.
