Q: HRT after hysterectomy

I will be having a complete hysterectomy in the near future and the Dr said my hot flashes will increase "with a vengeance" and I should probably take HRT. If I just toughed it out, how long would those symptoms last? If I'm only taking HRT for comfort, and it's only a month or so, I wonder if I'd be better off to go without, but not if it's going to be indefinite suffering. I'm 53. Thankyou

You know I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 47...Never had a hot flash...Never really itched or was bothered with the perils they talk about...Sometimes I think that women get ready for this big "wow"..What if it doesn't happen?

As far as HRT, they started me on Premarin...I think it was 0.625 mg. but I forget...Somewhere it is written on the Forum what it was...Took me off of it four years ago this July at which time my female Pharmacist told me that there was no need to use it...I had passed through this time in life...I now insert Estring which is a circular disc into my vagina for keeping me juicy...It feeds my upper vaginal canal, G-spot and sometimes I swear my clit...I now purr like a baby and act like a woman in love...

Forget the vengeance and enjoy life...As I said, they took everything out of me at once...This included my ovaries....If you need help just PM me or ask me here...

Hope this helps,
Caroline

From what I have read this can come and go after Menopause...It is only when you have pain or there is an odor that you should take some action...I think you are pretty normal...
