There are over 75 different strains of the HPV virus but only 10 of them are responsible for causing genital warts.
2 strains (HPV 6 and HPV 11) are responsible for 90 percent of the cases of genital warts.
The same strains that cause genital warts in genital area, can be transmitted to the mouth and throat, through oral sex with infected person, but, very rarely.

how can you find out what strains you have? I was just diagnosed and have been checking down there thinking I'm going to see bumps or warts...I am making myself very sore because I am stretching to see it. I'm scared I'm missing something.
