YAZ (generic name: drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) is a birth control product containing hormones which affect the ovulation as well as the ability to embed the egg if fertilization somehow managed to occur.
The allowed regime is taking 24 light pink tablets which contain active hormones from day 1 to day 24 and then taking 4 white inert tablets for the following four days during which a menstrual cycle is expected to occur. When taken as recommended, the chances for conceiving are minimal.
When a tablet is missed, it might significantly decrease the effectiveness of the birth control product. The chances for getting pregnant, when missing only one pill, cannot be given. However, you might not worry so much. It takes seven days for the hormones in the blood caused by the pill to reach the needed level. It might be that the levels of hormone in the blood might need time to decrease, too.
However, this cannot be taken as a sure indicator that you are not pregnant and you might want to visit your gynecologist and have a physical examination, hormonal laboratory tests, and an ultrasound scan to confirm or rule out pregnancy for sure.
