Hello Fellow Acne and Seborrhea Dermatitis sufferers;
I suffer from ACNE and SEBORRHEA DERMATITIS or should I say I suffered. There is a lot of information regarding these diseases on the net and the one common denominator is having oily skin. Well that is the cause of both my problems. I am pretty sure you know by now how acne is formed and if you suffer from SD you also have done your research. Let me tell you what I have done to help me control both these annoying diseases. If you think about it, oily skin can cause a lot of skin problems but why is that, was my question? Well I found out, the oils are sticky creating a sticky environment on your face. Which traps bacteria and worst of all your excess skin. That’s right we shed skin cells everyday and if you have oily skin you are trapping some of those skins cells, which in effect are clogging your pores. Wait the cycle gets worse, your sebaceous glands are still producing oils and they have nowhere to go, HELLO pimple or whitehead. For those with SD this sticky environment is the feeding ground for the yeast called malessizia that is thought to be the irritant that causes the red and scaly appearance of SD.
So what I started to do is exfoliate my skin with the Pretika microdermbrasion brush 3x week in the morning. I then follow that up with one of many shampoos for dandruff and apply it to my face for about 8 to 10 mins and then shower (this is only for SD sufferers). In he shower is use cetaphil face lotion to wash my face. Next I use an oil free moisturizer and then I apply a Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% lotion on my face (you can find a really good one at Acne.org). Follow this with your sunscreen and you are ready to begin your day. Yes it is a process, but this process has really worked wonders for my skin. The exfoliation is the key to my success in treating these diseases.
The other things that will help you have clear beautiful skin are eating fruits and veggies, and drinking a lot of water. I usually add some organic lemon juice to my water. Hope this helps.
