Q: How to hide a hernia?

I need to pass a physical exam, however i have a small inguinal hernia. Is there any way to "hide" the hernia or make it so that it is not noticeable.

I have had an inguinal hernia before and had surgery to repair it, and now i have another one on the other side, but i NEED to pass this physical and I can't have surgery before i have the physical.

The physical i must pass is to maintain my NHRA license, the hernia does not hinder my ability to drive, and is small in no way in danger of strangulation, so please any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know there is no way to hide a hernia. Your doctor who is doing the physical exam can get your medical records from your other doctors if he/she feels the need to review records your further.
Does anyone on your team(your pit crew, owner of your car, sponsers) know about your hernia?

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Yeah the doctor doing the exam should already know that i have had a hernia before, and if not i am sure he will ask when he sees the scare from the previous surgery.

One thing that I did notice, the other day i had an upset stomach all day due to drinking alot the night before and i couldn't even tell I had the hernia at all. There was no visable bulge nor could i feel it at all. That gave me hope that maybe there was a way to hide it for the physical.

My crew knows, and they are frustrated because I am the driver, and the team needs me even though it is a pretty small time thing, not a major class or anything.

Take Care of yourself, if indeed you need to have surgery for the hernia, please research your options. The mesh is causing a great deal of problems for people.
Feel free to pm me I've been through the hernia medical mesh nightmare and I'm still going through a lot. I'd hate to see anyone else suffer.

You can ask about Surgisis it's a bio mesh which is working for many people.

Let me know how you are doing and how the racing is going...Smile
