My kindergarten daughter dawdles over everything. She does not get the concept of finishing things on time. If i set the timer in front of her, she won't even try, and at the end, she's like "time's over". Her teacher complained that she's the last one at any activity in school as well. My concern is that she wasn't this way in pre-school... her teachers adored her and said she was the best. And i'm afraid that she might be on the way to becoming a defeatist. Will sports like football help her to build up team spirit and working towards a common goal? My only problem is that neither i nor my husband know anything about football in the US

Hello and thanks for your medical question on E Health Forum.

From the description provided, you seem to be overanxious about the future of your kid.

Childhood is a age when kids are usually not goal oriented, and they definitely learn it over time.

Your kid is still young and will soon become competitive.

You just need to be patient and try not to put too much pressure on her for increasing her performance.

I hope this helps.

its okay if u guys dont know football.team spirit and goal awareness is not solely linked to fotball as any sporting activity requires achievement of goal and motivation. moreover, u can tune her personality by advicing her on everyday matters and tell her to act smart in school.
