My son is turning 6 years old in a few days. For the last year I have only had to clip his nails maybe every 6 months if that. They just don't seem to grow. Does that sound right to anyone? The reason I am concerned is because of other issues such as migraines, bone pain, hairloss and brittle hair, dark circles under eyes, tired, emotional sensitivity, complaining of stomach pains, constipation/diarrhea (more constipation) and if you try to tickle him or go to pick him up he usually complains of pain like he feels bruised. Could the slow growth of the finger nails be tied in with this or is it normal for nails to grow so slowly?

Sounds like he is not absorbing some of the nutrients that control things like hair/ nail growth and health. I suggest you take him to the pediatrician to rule out Irritable Bowel Syndrome or some other problem such as Celiac disease.

He will be seeing his Dr again on the 10th for his yearly checkup. I am hoping there will be an explanation soon. He just got over having a sinus infection and strep throat (although that isn't what caused the nail and hair issue as that was before he got sick too). Then he had a delayed reaction to the antibiotics and ended up broke out with Hives from his scalp all the way down to his toes which was horrible on him. He just can't seem to stay healthy anymore so I will be having the Dr checking some things out, hoping for a referral to Childrens maybe they can figure something out.
