I'm using the Paragard IUD. I'm wondering how many days I should wait for a late period. I've taken a HPT and it was negative a few day ago. I am still not showing signs of having my period. I know that periods will not be regulated because of the lack of hormones in this IUD but I've already gone from the 12th of November(heavy normal bleeding)then cramped from about the 13th to the 20th when I finally started bleeding(light bleeding for 2days)and now it's the 27th of January I had some spotting the morning of the 26th and thought it had finally come but now nothing again. Is this normal or should I call my doctor. BTW, I did have a baby almost 7 months ago but am not breastfeeding. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
It is difficult to comment on the cause for the absence of periods while being on IUD without examining you and going ahead with further evaluation done for you. The probable causes could include pregnancy, hormonal derangements, endometrial changes, ovarian cysts etc. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation and assistance. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you get your periods and regulate them. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
