My mother is 68 years old and is 100 pounds soaking wet and she just had a heart attack and followed that up with a quadrouple by-pass with an aortic valve replacement. the recovery was hard per my mother but the doctor's seem to be very optomistic. my mom is a stronger person than i gave her credit for, because, when i talk about it with most people they seemed shocked that she is even alive. per the dr's she has been operating on a heart that has a 10% heart efficiency (weak hearts run in the family). after the operation which was almost 3 months ago my mom has been experiencing fast heart rates that seem to come and go but never lead to relapses or any other heart attacks - my mom just relaxes and they seem to go away in time. dr's and nurses and relatives seem to think its too much potasium and nothing that serious. either way, i want to be around my mother but i live out of state with my fiance and we are to be married soon and due to the heart issues my mom has been having i am proposing a move back to chicago from boston. i don't want to make this move too soon so as to make a smooth transition for my wife to be but at the same time i want to be with my mother.
my big question is - which maybe only a question god knows is...
given this and past similar operations and a seemingly good outcome with my mom with this operation and my mom's last known heart efficiency at 10% (in your expert opinion) how long does my mom have to live?
keep in mind i am only looking for an average amount of years my mom may have based on past occurances.
thanks
