I'm having trouble with this. I give Eadie veggies with every meal but if they aren't mushed in with potatoes or otherwise hidden in a sauce or something, she picks out what she wants and won't touch the vegetables. I need to get her to eat more greens. If I just give her straight up veggies she will push them away immediately and if I don't take them off her tray she will pick up the plate and throw it on the floor! giggle Mad

She's 19 months now and has almost all of her teeth (except the back molars.) She loves potatoes, noodles, cheese and muffins but not much else.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Extremely eHealthy
Keep hiding them is all the advice I can offer. My daughter loves her veggies.

my niece and nephew do the same thing when i baby sit them. there's older [5 and 7] but when they refuse or whine about eating the broccoli or carrots or whatever other vegetable there is, i sit there with them till it is gone, and if they say no i make them.
one way or the other they need to eat the healthy stuff, and they cant just say no.
if you break it now while your daughter is young, it will be much more easier when she is older. if you wait longer to nip this as i am sure you are aware, it will be harder to get her to eat her veggies.
try some sort of cheese sauce over broccoli, or sweet carrots or even change her potatoe to sweet potatoe, some kids actually prefer sweet potatoe to regular, and sweet potatoe fries to regular fries because of the taste

the sweet potato fries is a great idea. she is really into dipping things right now. the funny thing is, the day that i posted this, i gave her broccoli and noodles with cheese on top and she gobbled it up. kids are so confusing sometimes!! Razz

lol sometimes its just pushing them to eat what they dont like, my brother inlaw pushes his kids [my niece and mephew] to eat whatever they whine and say 'i dont like that!' and when their finished they say, wow that was yummy!
my mom used to make us cabbage soup and there were tons of veggies, and i remember loving it when she made it, because it didnt have that vegetable taste to it, it tasted more like the tomatoe broth that you can make it in.
also, im not sure where you live, but where im from-canada-we have this thing called Greens Plus, and they have a Kids Greens Plus, and one dose of this stuff is equal to one days serving of fruits and veggies i think, its a liquid, and my brother inlaw mixes it in with some juice like orange juice, or pomegranet, cranberry, blueberry tropicana juice, so they dont taste the bitterness.
that could be a suggestion if she is still being fussy with veggies, to insure she is not missing what she needs.

I've convinced Trey it's the only way he'll be able to maintain his "Super Powers" lol

Just mix em in and don't worry if she doesn't eat them all the time...It's realy not the end of the world. He HATES peppers of any kind and even if a smidgen of one is in his fave food, he will gag and gag. Oh and lettuce too for some reason...Makes me and his teachers laugh.

the problem we keep having is that Eadie wants to eat what everyone else is eating. It's fine when she's at home because we eat healthy so she is happy to go along with that. When she's at daycare, her lunch is different from everyone else's and most of the kids just get a sandwich or frozen pizza or a can of something, so she won't eat what I send unless it's like what everyone else is eating. I am making her some little mini pizzas with spinach, bell peppers and chicken with cheese. I will see how those go over. I guess she isn't really that fussy (right now - she could be totally different next week!) She just wants to be like the other toddlers.

Oh, they have this commercial here where they sing this song that goes..."5, 2, 1 , 0....be a healthy hero!" and it's all about eating 5 fruits and veggies a day. I sing that to her while she is eating and it seems to encourage her because she likes the song. It's kinda cute. Smile)

Yeah...I know. I probably worry about it more than I should. I didn't grow up eating healthy so it's an issue for me.

That's really cute about the "super powers." lol, kids are so funny.

you have to provide your own food at daycare?? GOD I LOVE MY DAYCARE!!!!! I pay $7 a day (that's the norm in Quebec) and everything is included...They eat super healthy too. No juice (Trey only drinks milk and water anyway), nothing with nuts cause some of the kids have allergies. When he was still on formula, they even supplied that. hehehehe go SUPER POWERS!!!!

YOu can mix veggies to her favorite foods. He/she won't noticed it. YOu cannot just let your kid eat right veggies right away. Her/his taste buds needs to familiarize it first. The he/she will gradually gets used to it.
