I am 53 and had my last period 13 months ago. Shortly before that, I had a pap which was normal, but my doc ordered blood work since I told my Dr. my periods were irregular. The blood work indicated I was already in menopause, but I assured her I was still getting periods. So she ordered a biopsy (very painful) and everything was honky dory with the exception of fibrous tumors which they said caused the bleeding. When I had my last period 12 months ago, I was a happy camper. But this past year has been one long miserable hot flash. Finally, a month or so ago, my hot flashes ended abruptly. Then three days ago, I noticed pink when I wiped myself and now it appears I have a period again. I no longer have health insurance and cannot afford a battery of tests. Does anyone else have a similar situation? How concerned should I be?

Hi flappergirl and welcome to ehealth: What you are experiencing is similar to many other women...Menopause can go on for two to three years...As long as you feel good and do not start bleeding real heavy, I think you are right on path with many of us...It seems that no two women are alike in our experience of this time in our life....Take care...

Hello i am exactly the same was on HRT until December 2010 last "period" first week in January 2011 then nothing until some slight spotting with cramps in august (aligning with the other two females in the house!) then two days ago felt some cramps and am bleeding very slightly (and unsurprisingly the other twonow have their period!) glad i am not alone

i am 42 yrs old and my last period was in january and lasted more than 7 days. missed feb period and last week started having flusher, my hormones blood results in jan were perfect. i did 2 pregnancy test where negative.iwas having flushes but now they stopped and still have white discharge.my gynee has prescribed me lutenyl and toldme to repeat blood tests on the 3 rd day.but i am not sure if after taking the 3 rd pill orwhen i get my period.
