Yes, I get those too. Depending on how bad they are, you can speak to your gyno or Dr. about it. They can start you on Hormone Replacement Therapy HRT or you could look into alternative natural treatments. I use soy to try and help it a bit. Mine isn't bad. Good luck. Very Happy wave

I have found something amazing. A supplement developed by a Physician doctor of 40 years and hrt specialist.
Femestra. Google it. It is 100% guarenteed so there is no risk to try. I'm trying it and it better work! protest

hot flash treatment
The herbs and stuff might help a few women but they are not really clinically proven to work. It doesn't do any harm to try as long as you don't spend a lot of money on it. They did not help me AT ALL. What does work is bioidentical hormone therapy. Many doctors are not informed about this but if you google it, you will get a ton of information. Don't think that "waiting it out" is a great alternative. You could wait for 10 years. Also you will find as your estrogen levels drop lower and lower that your skin dries out and wrinkes, your vagina thin out and intercourse becomes painful, your hair falls out, your memory goes to pot, you are tired and feel old. Doctors don't hesitate to give testosterone to men who are deficient, why should women be treated any differently?

Well, Tiredmum, you are taking the first step toward feeling better, which is to pursue a solution. The medicine your doctor is recommending is a brand of clonidine, which is actually a blood pressure medicine. Perhaps there is some reason you cannot have any form of HRT to address the problem? Good luck and if it's not helping or you feel excessively tired or have any of the other listed side effects then ask your doc to switch. Don't just go along with it to "be a good patient". I made that mistake and learned the hard way! Hope you feel better.

Hot Flash Relief
Hot Flashes, HOT FLASHES...............what's a girl to do? I'll tell you what to do. You look for alternatives that will help to lessen the symptoms that come out of nowhere to make your life miserable and crazy! I suffered with them for quite awhile and then I decided to try a few things to help alleviate the hot flashes and the night sweats or make them more bearable.

Someone had suggested using a satin pillowcase, because they are smooth and the fabric is nice and cool. Trust me, it works, Especially when you flip the pillow over.

The second thing I do and what I have to found to work best for me is an eye pillow, right out of the freezer. I keep it there so its ready at a moments notice. I use a peppermint scented one because it opens up my sinuses and that helps me to breathe a lot better and helps any sinus or tension related headaches. The cold flax seed inside the eye pillow surrounds my eyes, temples, forehead and cheeks. You will be amazed at just how much relief and comfort you will get. The weight of the flax seed applies just enough acupressure to soothe and relax your facial muscles so your not so tense and uncomfortable . The eye pillow also blocks out all light so you can truly relax and get some needed rest.

small personal air conditoner may help
Well, I bought a personal handheld air conditioner called Handy Cooler. Not sure how it works but it's got something to do with evaporative or swamp cooling. I keep it with my all the time just incase a hot flash gets me. I'm quite against taking hormone pills or medication.

You are right. Herbs don't really work--at least not for me. The most effective way to stop hot flashes and slow down the deterioration of your body is with bioidentical hormones. I'v been doing my own hormone therapy for about eight years after doctors failed to give me what I needed.

I have suffered with hot flashes for a few years now. I also have never had any children. I finally tried something that actually worked- I cut way back on carbs! Within 3 days (no kidding) my hot flashes were gone. As well, the premonitions of hot flashes are gone as well. I don't drink caffeine, I don't smoke, I work out regularly and I drink very little alcohol. Carbs were my weakness- I love potatoes, cereal, rice, spaghetti and bread- I ate it in moderation but even that was too much, so I cut way back and I feel much better now. That worked for me so I wanted to share, it might work for you too.

Just forget medications, creams, injections. Just get stay undressed and drink. I find that by getting dressed just makes me hotter and angry. Going to my Dr. just makes me MORE ANGRY as he is a man and can not possible understand. The no reason for uncontrollable crying, walking in his office in 30 degree weather with a tank top and sweat dripping down my back. Still he say's "Just Calm Down" He just doesn't know at this point just how precious his life is or how little I value HIS LIFE. None the less we get alone and I tolerate his suggestions that have NEVER worked. I have tried all of the above suggestions and I am still MISERABLE with the hot flashes and now eyelash loss. We can send a man to the moon, put an artifical body parts to replace the broke ones. Can someone PLEASE find a ways to fix us. I don't care if it's horse pee, dog pee, whatever they are trying now days. Just give us samples until the meds are worth paying high cost that are useless. I am having a hot flash now. Can you tell?
