Hi I am a 42 year old female. I just had a hysterectomy due to prolapsed uterus, fibroids and a cyst on my ovary. I decided to have my ovaries removed do to my aunt died in February of ovarian cancer. My concern is taking HRT. I didn't know that taking HRT increases your chance of breast cancer. The reason I'm so scared is my mother died of breast cancer. Is there anyone out there that has had a hysterectomy and has not ever taken HRT. Please help I feel I made a bad decision.

Honestly, I would talk to your doctor about it. Maybe they were unaware of your family's medical history and could help you with the hormone treatment in a diff manner.

I'm sorry, I've never gone through this but this is what I would do.
