When i was in the hospital after giving birth my brother inlaw bought me a book about different baby food recipes, they have a list of foods to give from 6 months and on and its all healthy hommade foods.
From baby purees' to actual meals and desserts, all healthy, hommade and fun to make.
I am going to try making his baby puree's this week, carrots, peas, maybe sweetpotatoe, etc. etc.
My son will be 6 months this week so veggies will be the first thing to start on, then fruits and so on and so forth. he already eats baby cereal and loves it!

It will be intresting to try this, and i hope i am successful, alot of my family have done this and im eager to try too.

Has anyone else done this, make their own baby foods?

I wouldnt say I make my own but we are trying to feed him our food.

We usually mash up our foods really thin and mix it with breastmilk.

He loves it.

So far we have mixed in potatoes, pea soup, and carrots. Just simple stuff he would get from jar baby food. I think you will be very successful and I think it may be easier and cheaper in the long run.

We already eat healthy so its easy for us just to mash or blend our salad or veggies and just feed baby while we eat.

Good Luck and keep me updated. I would love to share stories...

well so far i blended up carrots and he loved them!
its his first time trying them, so we only gave him a little bit but so far so good Smile

i think that since we'll be giving him hommade and healthy foods that myself and my boyfriend will start eating healthier.
we dont eat that bad, but we could do better.

and thanks, i will keep you updated Smile

I love the Beaba baby food maker. It's a little pricey but it does so much. It defrosts the food, steams it, purees it and then keeps it heated to a good temp. My baby hasnt complained- lots of eating. I have to admit I've tasted it too and its good lol.

haha ive tasted his foods too and i cant complain either! lol i am sometimes tempted to make a batch for myself Razz

I dont have that baby food maker thingy though, i just throw all the veggies, and chicken into a pot with water, then throw it all in a food processer, pour it into lock tight containers and into the freezer they go.
then i take out 1 or 2 so they defrost in time for the next day, and as i use one i put another in the freezer to defrost for the next day

My aunt has tried making baby foods on her own. It was all healthy and natural. It's okay to create your won baby food as long as it is clean, soft and natural. Your baby would be fine.

My mom homemade all of our baby foods back in the 80's! She didn't like the idea of processed foods...although I'm sure they are much healthier now! She would blanch the fruits and veggies and cook the turkey/chicken and then puree them. She also used cloth diapers on us...which is so funny to me...Yuppies being eco-friendly how ironic!
My mom said that one of my favorite recipes was baked chicken breast...no seasoning, pureed with fresh peas and carrots. She also said that spaghetti squash was a winner with us. I don't have children to try these out on but I trust my mom! rainbow
