I had a kidney transplant Nov. 3, 2008. One month later in Dec. the surgeon
removed the staples. The top part of my stomach started to crack a little each day
and on the third day, a hole had developed about 3/4" wide and round and about 1 to
1-1/2" deep. The surgeon let his student resident do my surgery without my knowledge. Also he didn't tell me that he was going to insert mesh in my stomach.
He put mesh all the way down my abdomen to below the first scar. This mesh has
ruined my life. It sticks me all day long and pulls on my stomach. It is very
hard and constantly presses up against my stomach. It hurts most at the bottom of my
stomach. Is there any way that the mesh can be removed and the hole re-repaired.
Could you use sutures only? Could the bottom part of the mesh be removed and the
top part left in tact. Could the bottom part be sewed with stitches while the top
has mesh left in place? I would like to know if there is any hope for me to get
this problem solved so that I can get back to a normal life again and get back to
work soon. If you have any answers, I would appreciate you advise. Thanks Sandra
