I had sex with a prostitute and i used a condom. However, after having sex for a while i pulled myself out of her and then masturbated with my hand and still wearing the condom. After i while i removed the condom and continued masturbating myself till i ejaculated. When i removed the condom it had dried and my hands were also dry. I held the condom with my palm while i was wearing it and then masturbated with the same hand. Is there any risk of HIV transmission. This happened five days back and now i am having slight fever and fatigue since the last two days. I am not feeling cold and my head is also not aching, although my neck glands are a bit swollen. I have mild fever, between 99-100 F and no rashes on my torso. A small rash was there on my groin, which developed two days after having sex and is now alright. I have had it before as well. No other symptoms as such. Please advice with you view. If i need to get myself tested, then when should i go for it, and how long should i wait. Thanks

HIV dies 30 seconds to a minute after it leaves the body.

Get checked for Stds and if you are still worried and want an accurate HIV test, wait three months from the point of infection and get a blood test. It is recommended that after that you wait another three months and get checked again. Then you'll know for sure if you have HIV or not.

I am trying too see a point in which you might have got infected and I cannot tell that from your post. I am concerned though about the things you are experiencing eg slight fever and fatigue and swollen glands. See your doctor please.

Thank you
I am sure that it was easily past more than 2-3 minutes after i took off the condom and touched my penis. And if at all there was any fluid on my hand, it had already dried by then. I also saw a doctor yesterday, but dint disclose all this to him. I asked him to check my neck for swelling, but he said there wasnt any. I dont have any rashes on my body, just slight fever and fatigue. But i am really worried, because i dont have any cold or cough or headache, still i am having fever. Can u tell me where these lymph nodes are located in the body in armpits and groin, so that i can examine myself carefully, because i am really worried. Also ts been only one week since i had this encounter, so is it too early for mee to fall ill and expect symptoms. Thanks for your reply.

My answer is the same. Get checked for STDs. Do not be embarrassed to ask for the test because this is your life we are talking about. No time to be shy.

We have lymph-nodes all over our bodies. Behind the neck is another place to find them besides armpits and groin.

If you are too shy to talk to you doctor about it which is a shame, then please go to anonymous testing.

May be you are just plain stressed out. Hopefully you have learned your lesson on casual sex like that.

All the best and please let us know what happens.

aids test and symptoms
Hi
i had written to you about a possible hiv exposure in my previous post. Regarding the swelling in my neck, the doctor confirmed that there is no swelling, and it was just my assumption. However, since the sixth day of the exposure i am having mild fever ranging between 99-100 F, along with fatigue. Today is the 5th day since the fever started. I dont have any other symptom like cough, cold, swollen glands, rashes, diorrhea, white spots in mouth. But i am worried that this fever might be an early indicator of HIV. I gave my blood for a PCR test. The report comes on friday. Can you tell me the window period for this test and the accuracy level. And do you think this is not viral fever but aids.

wait till the test comes back and try not to worry...there are no 100% answers until you get tested for HIV and the results come back. Then you can start to deal with the outcome. Try not to worry about it and once you have the test results then you can focus on the next step.
