Q: Hip replacement recovery time

Hi, I have had severe pain and a bad limp for almost a year now and have come to the point that total hip replacement surgery is inevitable. I am 35 and in the best shape of my life, accept of coarse for the right hip joint. My question is, if I have the surgery say the second week of August, will I be recovered enough to walk down the isle and go on my honeymoon by the first weekend in October?

Recovery will take months. Why not try hip resurfacing?

Get the surgery!!
Yes! I am 51 and just had my left hip replaced 2 weeks ago. I am already walking around, no cane or crutches, only on Tylenol (no narcotics since the day of surgery) and, though I get tired, I am fine. By week 6, I am told I will be at 80% of what I will be at by week 26, but if these first 2 weeks are any indication, you will be fine. DO IT, why be in pain??

Yes you will be able..but you will have to use a cane.
I am 46 and had a T.H.R. right side non cemented and was off the walker and walking on a cane in 5 weeks.
You are only 35 you will have a non cemented cup and no screws so you will be on a walker for a bit.You do not want the hip resurfacing....my surgeon did not like the idea ,she said it is only a patch job that a total replacement is a lot better in the long run.You will feel a lot better after, it makes a world of differance.

Good luck Cement
