Q: hip replacement and sex

I am a 44 year old woman and I had my right hip replaced a few months ago. I am doing quite well now. Shortly after the replacement I developed a complicated urinary problem and the urologist wanted to do a cystoscopy. However he decided against it because of the risk of getting an infection through the blood to my hip replacement.
Now my husband wants to have anal sex with me and I am worried that this might cause an infection, just the way a cystoscopy would. Am I right in being concerned about this?

Yes, stay away from anal sex unless this is cleared with your Orthopedist...I know for a fact that from my husband's hip replacement last year, that he has to take medication every time he goes to the dentist for fear of infection.....I also know that for three months my husband's stitches were not fully healed...He would spit stitches and an infection formed around them...Gosh, I would think twice before you do this act......Stay with regular sex...

Good luck...

Thanks for the advise. I will discuss this with the ortho doctor, although what you say makes perfect sense.

Thanks
