The tone of your first reply was rather flipant. That is also appreciated...to a degree. The answer is NOT apparent to me, however, nor would I ask such a question if I knew the answer in the first place.

This was an actual situation which arose in an Oral Suregeon's Office with my 82 year old Mom. She had just received 2 injections of the local pain killer in her gum area. He seems a bit perplexed when she began to become anxious.

And all return to a "normal" stae in about 25 minutes.

I will spare other details. BUT....I was inquiring from a perspective of a layperson....& that I am.

In that case, let me say this. In the future pleas be more specific with you posting. We can give you any help or suggestion with knowing the whole picture. When you post as you did above, we can not understand that whole picture, hence being unable to give a conclusive suggestion.
In saying this, it sounds like your mom could be suffering from anxiety that would raise her blood pressure. But, understan it could be the other way around. I would suggest you take her to a cardiologist for a proffessional diagnosis. Blood pressure is nothing to fool around with. And there is what we call a "Silent MI". Please be aware of that. From what you have posted in your topic starter her systolic needs to be watch carefully. I would suggest if you don't already have one. Go get a digital blood pressure cuff. They are about $30.00. I also suffer from hypertension and on a beta blocker every day. Also, your blood pressure can be up and it will not effect you heart rate. This is not uncommon at all.

This may be something to think about. She very well might have had an allergic reaction to Lidacaine. Although, uncommon in most cases, can not be ruled out. I would also mention to her doctor that this happened after the injections were given. It is always a better street to go down when you ask someone how to get there first.
That could very well have been what happend.

I really don't know what to say Charles except my deepest appologies if I came off strong on you. But yes, ehealth is part of my life now. And helping those in need come first a formost. Even before myself most of the time. I am not any better then the next person. We all here at ehealth are here because we have the same compassionn and goal. And that is to be a part of a family that is dedicated to helping others.
Yes, being in the field for so very long. I do hold this board close to my heart as I was forced into early retirment for illness. Having some mental issues myself now, this gives me a sense of acomplishment that I had at work this behind the scenes now.
