About 3 weeks ago, out of the blue, I had horrible chest/abdominal pain, cold sweats and slightly low temperature (97.5). Mostly the pain was in my sternum but also went around to my back. I thought it was just gas (bad Mexican food) and a few hours later (and some pepto bismol), it went away. I vomited at least 3 times during this period. I'm nearly 37 years old, male, and can count how many times I've felt this bad in my life on my left hand. I am fairly heavy though at 260 lbs and 6' tall. My diet has not always been great (fast food, candy, lots of diet soda and coffee).
Two days later it returned and I went to urgent care. They gave me some "gastric cocktail" to ease the pain and prescribed Nexium for 30 days. Initial diagnosis was gastritus or possible peptic ulcer.
About two weeks later, I was travelling for work and it hit again the day I flew home. More vomiting, same pain. Finally, this past weekend it hit yet again. No vomiting but the pain lasted over 12 hours (from about 8PM Saturday until 10AM Sunday). I popped about 8 to 10 rolaids in 2 to 3 hours but it didn't seem to help.So, back to urgent care the following Morning at 10AM. This time a different doctor.
This doctor poked around a little more but didn't "feel" anything wrong. She also ordered a urine screen and blood work (for liver and such). Then the same "cocktail" and a recommendationto double my nexium intake to 40mg twice a day.
My urine came back fine, but showed that I'm a little dehydrated. My blood work came back and showed no H.Pylori but it did show crazy liver enzyme levels.
SGOT = 714
SGPT = 706
and something else normally between 42-121 at 189.
I'm now officially scared to death!!! I can't find anyone with levels this high on the internet. Most are terrified if levels reach 300. I'm over TWICE that level!!!
I don't drink much at all (maybe a few beers twice a year. I've never done drugs (AT ALL). The only needle ever put in my arm was done by a doctor or nurse. I've only had Nexium, Rolaids and one Centrum multivitamin in the last month (and probably longer).
I have an endoscopy tomorrow and I'm supposed to have my blood checked again in a week. Is death knocking on my doorstep?
