You need to take the baby to the ER or your doctor right away, no matter exactly what his condition is at this point.

Actually, depending on the severity of the infection and your baby's constitution, an infection is an infection...it can cause very high fevers. The excess conjestion in the nose could be causing a form of what we as adults get as sinus infections, but babies sinuses are not fully developed...they won't say that it's an infection, merely rhinitis.

I would be upset with the doctors too. You might want to check his diet and see if you've been feeding him something that he is having a reaction to, such as milk. That one can be a nasty culprit...cause delayed reactions and it takes over a week of abstaining from it to tell if that's the problem. But it can effect both the digestive an respiratory systems...it's worth a try. Then try other foods if you think that the milk is ok.

Keep a humidifier in his room. This should keep his nose from becoming too congested. The flu season can last quite a while and cause recurring infections...you might think he is ok, but then he comes down with things again. I've had the same problem here in my house with my children. IT's been a hard year.

Also, check if you have mold somewhere in your house. Babies are much more sensitive to adverse conditions than were are.

I think those are all the ideas I have for now. Let me know if those work for you or if you need some additional ideas.

he goes through spurts where he is ok one min and the next min he is screaming with no consoling.he gets very pale and his eyes get blood shot and its like he gets the chills because he shakes. we have recently gotton new carpet layed in our home and i have heard of a disease caused by newly cleaned or layed carpet called cowasocies(spelling is wrong i'm sure)that has similar symptoms as my son is showing. but then again this random fever stuff has been going on for months

I don't know...it could be the carpet. You could try getting an air purifier for that room and/or his room and see if that helps. Sometimes it's just a long hard process of trial and error. I do hope you find what's wrong soon. I'm sorry that I can't be of more help.

If the doctors say an ear infection im sure that is what it is. I am a pro at that. My daughter is 19months and has chronic ear infections and always has a 103 - 104 fever with them. All his symptoms could be due to that. Give motrin every few hours and cool baths. very lite cloths so the heat can escape. Iv spent countless nights with a baby and high fevers. I'v given luke warm baths at 2am. after 2 or 3 days on antibiotics she will be fine. Prop he head up under the mattress. All else fails Benadryl will dry he right up. Other infant decongestints are no good if they even make them anymore. Its safe to take them together also. My daughter has taken benadryl 2 times a day for 9 months. She has bad allergies and works like a charm. My doctors orders of course. he will be ok.
Ear infections are very painfull. Alot of crying is very normal and going to happen.
