Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. The type of headache which you have described seems to be tension headache. In this, the muscles of the head/scalp become taut resulting in headache. This commonly occurs due to the emotional stress, prolonged work on the computers or sitting job.

If you have any associated nausea, vomiting or sensitivity to light or the headache disturbs your sleep, then other causes like migraine or a secondary headache due to some serious condition like brain tumour should be considered. It is always good to get the CT scan of the brain done for one’s assurance, especially if the headache is disturbing. Tension headache is usually treated with drugs like ibuprofen, acetaminophen etc. Hypertension produces the headache only if the blood pressure is quite high. It is not possible to diagnose online & for the same you’re suggested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope this information helps. Take care.
