I am experiencing the same problem as your son only my anxiety and panic attacks started very suddenly about 2 months ago. I got misdiagnosed a few times until a lovely doctor recognised my symptoms. He originally prescribed me with Prozac but I was so scared to take them that I ended up trying citalopram. The first 3 days were horrendous for me I couldn't move out of bed for the fear that so etching was going to happen to me. After 3 days i started to feel better but I am now on 2 weeks of citalopram and my anxiety and panic attacks seem to have come back with a vengeance. I am also gettin a really bad tummy and am suffering from chronic explosive diarrhoea. I would say the best thing to do if he is confiding himself to his bedroom and cannot face anybody like myself then to just make sure he has plenty of fluid and food and not to check on him constantly but maybe once an hour to make sure he is ok until he comes around a bit. Sorry for the rambling but as I am experiencing this myself I can only imagine what your son is going through, although I do pray that one day I will be able to overcome it all and actually be able to smile.
