Q: Hiccuping / inhaling air

I am a 19 year old female, about 140-145 pounds and I usually hiccup right before I burp. I very rarely get continuous hiccups, but whenever I need to burp, I: hiccup and/or inhale air, burp, then exhale air. This happens almost every time I need to burp. Very rarely will I just burp. I do not drink much carbonated sodas, except for the rare sip when I am thirsty. This started a few months ago, hard to say when because I never really thought it was a big problem until curiosity killed the cat, but, satisfaction will bring it back.

edit: I do not drink alcohol, and I will occasionally smoke a hookah. This hiccup/burp problem has been happening before i started to smoke the hookah.
