I recently got an upper endoscopy. They found ulcers that showed no signs of bleeding and evidence of a hiatus hernia.

I am 24 years old and I have had chronic heartburn symptoms since I was a teenager. I was wondering if this condition is fatal. Is it completely curable or am I on meds for the rest of my life?

When hiatus hernia is symptomatic and a chronic case of acid reflux has developed, a surgery is often recommended.
This is suggested, mainly to avoid appearance of esophageal cancer.
