Im 5 weeks pregnant atm.Couple days ago i was rushed to hospital. After being examined the doctor said that i may be suffering from what they cal Heterotopic pregnancy.Ive been trought a miscarriage 2 years ago.And this pregnancy means alot to me.Is there anyway both babys can survive?
Ive heard that if its detected early it is possible to remove the ectopic pregnancy and place where it would have a chance to survive.
This is causing real heartache.
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.
Heterotopic pregnancy is a rare entity in which thereâs a simultaneous intra-uterine and extra-uterine pregnancy.
The mortality rate of the extra-uterine pregnancy is close to 90-95 % whereas that of intra-uterine pregnancy is around 30%.
The treatment consists of salpingectomy (removal of the fallopian tubes). Itâs almost imporssible to save both the babies. Please do consult an obstetrician for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
