I recently found out I was positive for HSV 2, but I've never had and outbreak. The doctor told me that he thinks I have had it for a while but is it normal to of had for a long time and not have a single outbreak? Could my test be a false positive? By the it was a blood test.

Some cases of HSV 2 herpes are mild and may not need treatment. It might be that your immune system is strong enough to delay or hold off an infection. I've not heard of cases when blood based herpes test show a false negative. You might want to wait for a little while and re-test to be sure. The three (3) tests for herpes simplex virus are:

* Blood test
* Viral culture of the lesion
* Direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test
