Back pain symptoms may seem obvious. But do you know when symptoms of back pain are more serious or when to see a doctor? Learn what action to take & when...
I cant sit or lie down for a minute without severe pain in my buttocks groin area . When I stand and walk the pain subsides. When I first found out about the herniation from an MRI after over a year of having the pain and three cat scans I took advice from a chiropracter friend and went for treatment on a spinemed decompression table. I did 18 treatments with no relief. When I showed the DC the latest CT she pointed out the herniation.I am very upset the hospital didnt see it when they did the CT I will be looking at the first two when I get back from the treatment. If you look at the side view of the MRI the herniation is pressing about 3/8 to 1/2 of the way into the nerve column behind the spinal cord could that be causing cramping/pain in my buttock/groin area? I am so over the pain and inability to sit and relax or lie down I am seriously considering having an operation but do not know if there is anything else I can do to avoid it. Frontal view on CT shows that the vertebra are very close possibly bone on bone and no medication vicodin 750 anti inflamatories muscle relaxers epidural shots have given me any relief. In the last two days prescribed 15mg's of Morphine and Gabapentin hoping for relief. Climbing the walls would be a good example of the pain on the 1-10 scale. I hope that there is relief and no permanent damage. Going to a spine center on Monday for a consultation. What are my options? I can barely stand driving in the car for 45 minutes this is a living hell. Please help if you have any ideas.

I had the same thing. Sitting was impossible for longer than 10 mins. I was in so much pain I couldn't put a number on it either. I am sorry this has happened to you to. I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

They will probably recommend epidural injections. They give an injection of steriods into the disc. I did two. They didn't help at all! However if you have the money to spend on it, I have heard it helps some people for a period of time. I ended up with the surgery. I think it was worth it because at least I can now sit down. However I am still in a lot of pain. Made worse by doing any physical activity. I had a Microdiscectomy in May 2010...so almost 6 months ago. They tell me I am still healing, and it will take the nerve a long time to recover from the compression that it was under. I sure hope they are right. Anyway...if they suggest surgery, and sitting is impossible at this point... I would do the surgery. Good luck!

I had l5 s1 surgery on monday.I had no pain after the surgery in the hospital. Tuesday went home, able to walk with little discomfort. Wednesday the same type of pain, hardly any pain. Thursday afternoon I had really bad buttock pain. It feels like when someone punches you on a muscle. This is happening when I walk and try to sit down.
It’s bad that I started taking valium and pain killers.
??? What is happening? I see the surgeon only on Monday afternoon. I now staying in bed laying flat on my back

Herniated Disc/Sciatic Pains
I had the same problem. I noticed that laying in bed all day does not solve the problem. Currently I took the no medicine healthy approach. Doing Decompression Therapy look for DRX-9000 also swimming, hot/cold compresses help. Check out Shark Cartilage as well and finally stretches. It's going to be a long process almost forgot get a BACK BRACE.

I understand your pain
I understand how you feel I have been suffering with the same problem for years now. As of today, nothing is helping me. I cant sit or even drive the pain down my right leg is soooo severe that it gets to the point were I cant even feel my leg and I have to pull over. Its very difficult to deal with this situation giving that I have horrible insurance and I also have a 10 month old baby and he wants to crawl and touch everything he can get his hands on. This pure hell for me..
