Q: Hernias after ceaser - should I go again?

Hi all,
Nearly 2 years ago - had my 1st baby, emergency csection, after no dialation and baby distress. Wound broke down staples didn't work so was put back in on day 3 for re cut and repair of ceaser. Then had an IUD which didn't work, and a hernia (massive lower abdo one, inside ceaser wound) - took a year for wait list for surgery and had my small umbilical hernia done then too. That was in Sept 08 and now I'm sure the hernia is back... pain sometimes when I do too much - but just sooooo scared at the thought of more surgery - but know its probably impossible for me to carry a baby with a low hernia (I know umbilical ones can be ok for pregnancy)...

Do I even want to have another baby - needing c section if all of this could happen again?
I knew my life would change after a baby, and friendships and sleep patterns and finances - just wasn't expecting such massive and ONGOING and painful side affects in my body as well.

I don't know if I'm asking any questions here.. just wanted to share. Anyone had hernias post ceaser, or carried no.2 with a hernia?

Thanks for reading.

I had a c-section after a 42 hour labour, and later needed an umbilical hernia repair too. I'm nearly four years on and still don't have the courage to face all that again. All that surgery and pain was far more than I bargained for. I totally understand your hesitation. It comes as an awful shock when the actual experience is so much different from the reasonably breezy experience that some women seem to have. I have thought long and hard about whether I'm prepared to potentially face it all again, and at this stage I'm not. I don't know if I ever could. I value my health and it was a horrible thing to put my body through. Good luck with your own decision!
