Q: Hernia treatment options

I have friend that has has a hernia maybe a month now, can anyonw give me some treating options to give him some advice on the situation. He has been to the doctor and is currently taking Bactrim and wears an= "wrap" around his stomach due to the tissue from his bellybutton. I have never encountered a hernia and no nothing about it so same someone please help me out with this?

Hernia can be treated only surgically.
It will spear him from possible complication if the hernia is left untreated.
Hernia surgery is very safe and usually quite effective. Depending on the location and size of the hernia and what technique is used, up to 10% of hernias may develop again at some point in the future.
