In 2003 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and chose brachytherapy to treat it. In 2004 I was diagnosed with a hernia, then doubles in 2005 and 2006. After my 2006 my doctor remarked about the size of the piece of mesh used and that he stitched around it completely. Now I have constant pain which he suggests is the mesh pulling against stitching. Prior to cancer treatment (played sports through college)never had any hernia's. I ask about study data that might show a link and 4 doctors have insisted radiation was too localized to cause tissue damage this far over. Finally after last operation one doc "heard" of informal results being discussed at Cleveland Clinic that suggest a correlation between cancer treatment and hernia's. Has anyone heard of this and can anything be done regarding this pain ?

Thank you

Hi and Welcome

Sorry to hear all you have been through and are still going through.
Did you see the sticky on this forum on hernia complications?
There are some websites on there that might be helpful.

Meshes are a big problem for many people. I'm not sure about cancer treatment and hernias,if I come across anything I will pass it along as I am searching for answers also with this chronic pain from hernia surgery.
