Hello,

I'm a very active 22 year old, and last year I had surgery to take out my appendix. While they were in, they noticed I had a hernia as well, and patched it up. The doctor said it was probably sports related from wrestling, rugby, etc. 6 weeks after surgery I jumped (wasn't thinking), and felt something tear on my lower left side. It did not hurt though, so it was somewhat confusing, and I thought at that point I may have just re-aggravated it. I took more off, then started running. It seemed to be fine until I started lifting heavier again, and now I feel a slight dull pain at night where the ab muscle feels kind of strained always.... It's not horrible like appendix pain, or a bad stomach ache, but I know it can't be good. and I see a slight bulge where my lowest left abdominal muscle is. It's still hard to notice, but I can tell that it feels like a strain, or weak while lifting.

I've taken it easy and have an appointment next week to have it looked at. I was wondering if there really ARE any exercises, or alternative methods rather then having surgery? Is it safe to do cardio as long as I'm not performing lifting and also avoid flexing my abdominal muscles? Thanks for your help.
