Q: hernia or appendicitis?

i had a hernia about 16 years ago, which did not hurt, and which i only discovered because there was like a ball that popped out above left of my private area. i was only 22 or 23.

now last night, i might have suffered another one on the right side, and this time it hurts, and is always discomfortable. i slept crappy last night -it happened in the middle of the night carrying my kid out of my bed and setting him down-, and tonight i have tried to sleep for almost 3 hours.

but looking at the symptoms of appendicitis, that kind of sounds like it as much or more as the symptoms for a hernia do. my wife is an RN by the way.

i don't have fever, vomit, loss of appetite, etc. but o do feel bloated, and have more gas and gas pains than normal i think, although i do normall have a lot of that as well as acid reflux. so much so that i take prilosic every morning.

i will be going to the doctor in the morning, but i hate not being able to diagnose my own thing here..... anyone here have any of these before?
