Hey, so Ive noticed this small lump by my anus these last few days. Is darkish purple in colour and about pea-sized.... research tells me this be hemroids! drama

Im not bothered about going to the Doctors (Im due a breast reduction and figure if I can get my t*ts out for everyone, then....!) But I cant get there for another week

In the meantime Ive bought 'Preparation H' and 'Anusol', Ive just switched to the former hearing better reviews.
I keep myself clean.
And have shed 2 stone recently in prep for my operation, so have a healthy lifestyle. (Im 22)

Im just wondering if these treatments help? Can they totally eliminate the problem? Will this lump go?

What can I do over this next week to assist this, I dont want to go the Dr's and him prescribe something Ive been using!

Oh one more point that must seem stupid, but my Doctor is male (i dont care him seeing - how liberal am i! lol) But there is a nurse there....who's more likely to see me?
Perhaps you've no idea either but figured Id ask!

Thanks a lot tiphat

Welcome to EHEALTH forum!
In most of the cases, hemorrhoids are self-limited, and usually, subside after a few days with simple home care.
You should get relief from pain and itching by using these medications.
Prevention of hemorrhoids or avoiding triggers of hemorrhoids is more important then treating active hemorrhoids.

Have you noticed what have caused the appearance of hemorrhoids?
Do you have problems with your bowel movements?

Actually, it's DOESN'T sounds like a case of hemorrhoids to me...a colored lump might indicate the presence of an anal fistula or something worse. I definitely encourage you to have a visual exam ... and let us know the results!!!

i definately think its hemroid(s), from research ive done, descriptions ive read and pictures ive seen

how it happened? straining basically, a change of diet seemed to mess up my 'motions' and i was struggling to go the toilet. it felt like i needed to but couldnt, so straining.... n then i noticed this the following day

External hemorids being bloodclots under the skin is what it seems to be, small pea sized but it does move under the skin. it can be pushed back inside but almost has nowhere to go... it doesnt stay there

Its not paintful or itchy, its more uncomfortable at certain times

Im staying clean, applying Preparation H few times daily and avoiding sitting for long periods (unfortunatly my work means i have to stand all day)

Im hesitent about the Dr's now, only because I dont want to jeperdise my upcoming operation. Depending how I feel I might leave it til Im done and then see the Dr, only talking a matter of weeks.

Any other advice is greatly appreciated!

Is there know why of softening the clot? - it does seem to be softer once Prep H is applied and Ive had rest.
Is there a way to push it inside?
Do I just need patience and keep applying the treatment in hope it goes away...??

Swelling developed under the skin close to anal opening, with firm and sore area around it, turning blue or purple in color DOESN"T look like anal fistula, but, IT IS external hemorrhoid that got thrombosed (developing blood clots inside). Clots form when hemorrhoid's blood supply is cut.

Large blood clots can produce pain with walking, sitting or passage of stool.
Usually, the clot in the external hemorrhoids is slowly absorbed by the body over several weeks (4-6).
Hot baths, ointments or creams are effective for the discomfort.
Preparation H can help thrombosed external hemorrhoids to shrink to some point.
Most experts recommend that the blood clots be surgically removed.

Straining and sitting for prolonged periods on toilet, unhealthy diet without fruits and veggies, all are causes for hemorrhoids.

Best wishes!
